The ambition of the VIB Center for Cancer Biology (CCB) is to contribute to a better understanding of the biology that underlies cancer initiation, progression and metastatic dissemination with the ultimate goal to develop more effective and specific anti-cancer (combination) therapies.

The Vesalius Research Center (VRC) is one of the research departments of VIB (Vlaams Instituut Biotechnologie) located in KU Leuven – Campus Gasthuisberg. VRC hosts 9 research groups with an employment of about 170 researchers, administrative and technical collaborators.
The laboratory of Professor Peter Carmeliet is especially focusing on the development of blood vessels (Angiogenesis) and vascular metabolism, and consists of 60 driven researchers and lab technicians. The Lab is currently looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher to join the team. Successful candidates will be involved in a research project focusing on the regulation of cell metabolism and to determine the role of metabolism during the process of angiogenesis. Recent studies from the lab revealed that targeting endothelial metabolism could be a possible alternative therapeutic strategy for anti-angiogenic therapy. In this perspective, we are aiming to investigate several metabolic pathways in different models of angiogenesis.
